I took Trax with the kids (5 and under are free!) down to Karl's work, he hopped on and we went down to Gateway. We were super hungry and were getting desperate. So we ended up eating at... Costa Vida. I said, "That is lame that we came all the way downtown and ate at Costa Vida." He agreed. We will plan better next time.
No offense to the Costa Vida fans. It is just that I am a Cafe Rio person myself and how about the number of Costa Vidas we probably passed to get down town.
So, can you help me out? Where do you like to go when you are down town? Kids or no kids suggestions are welcome.

Settebello is my favorite downtown restaurant. They do fabulous authentic Napoli style pizza. It is to die for and I am a complete addict. Try the pistachio gelato for dessert.

I don't think any of the restaurants at the Gateway are amazing, but if I were there and didn't want to leave to eat, I would pick Thaifoon or Z'Tejas. Thaifoon is passable Asian food and it's a great place to take kids because the kids meals come in bento boxes. Megan loves them. Z'Tejas is southwestern. If you go there, try the Parmesan Pecan-crusted Chicken Salad. I love it because it is chock full of goat cheese--yum!

Thanks Michelle! I will check out settebello for sure. I am on a gelatto kick (among other kicks) right now. Yum, your fabulous recommendations are making me want to go right back downtown. We have done ztejas but I didn't get the salad. The fact that I can't remember what I got means it wasn't super fabulous for me. I should of gotten what you get.
I'm sure you guys already go to KoKo Kitchen but my kids LOVE ramen so they love that place. My favorite restaurant at the Gateway is the Thai place (forget the name). I always order the evil princess just so I can say i'm ordering the "evil princess." It suits me.
First note - I made the Quinoa for my visiting teaching ladies. Yum. Thanks for the recipe.
I also love Settebello but not my favorite place to take kids - CPK would be better kids wise. I also really like that Italian restaurant on the corner of Gateway. And then seriously who doesn't love Rumbis. Love Love
Okay- I am almost tempted to post anonymously because my sin is so much greater against the greater good of the foodies, but to make you feel better- I'll own it. We went down to the David Archuleta results party. Didn't know where to eat- same dilemma- downtown, kids, trax. Ended up riding trax back to the car (at 53rd) and going to KFC on State. Sad, sad. Costa Vida is so much better than that. I seriously came home and ate a bunch of fruit to make myself feel (somewhat) better. I wished I had a plan before we were all grumpy and starving. I need to write down all the suggestions here. P.S. The longboards at Costa Vida are yum- try pistachio.
