chow truck

We were starving. Eva was begging to "eat out." I looked up where the Chow Truck was. It was one block away. It was meant to be.

We ordered two of featured tacos, wild mushroom and beef, one pineapple ginger pork, two coconut lemongrass chicken, one order of Asian spiced root chips, and one tri color sesame cookie.

They gave us the cookie and started on our order. When they handed us our order they asked if they had ready given us our cookie. We had already gobbled it down :). They all laughed.

Eva loved it. She said when you are super hungry things taste really good. There are so many veggies on the tacos and my kids love them. Which just makes me think if they are prepped right, kids will eat them. Or maybe it's because it's sold out of a truck with a catchy name like chow truck.

Love the concept. Love the food.

Cookout in the mountains

Grilled food tastes better. It's a fact. We had a s'mores fest for dessert. Along with the regular graham crackers and Hershey's, we added ritz crackers, reese's peanut butter cups, mint patties, nutella, raspberry jam, and caramello. The winner was ritz with 1/2 a reese's with a roasted marshmallow then wrapped in foil and heated again.

tastes good, feels good

Sometimes you have to compromise taste for health or health for taste. But on this meal of rice, miso soup, nato, and vegetables, there is no comprise. I love my mom's food.

sunday roast

My mom has been making this recipe since I could remember: one giant roast, one can cream of mushroom, one can of French onion. It makes gravy for the rice and potatoes and basically falls apart without a knife. A total comfort food. Tonight, it was courtesy of April.

breakfast seems like an early morning dessert

Eva got French toast, Sam got a pancake. Drenched in syrup, they just seem like white flour sugar sponges. I ordered the Picadilly fries, like battered fried mashed potato nuggets. But ended up eating a ton of every one else's food, too. All of our food was actually pretty tasty.

Mid morning snack: Sundae Drumstick.

eat in nevada, sleep in utah

Chorizo noodle soup (pretty good, but only need to order it once in my life), caesar salad (boring, with boring bottled dressing), chicken fried steak (super boring with el blando gravy), and chili (pretty tasty, the kiddos gobbled it up and the cornbread was like dessert). Some places, you go to eat there. Some places, you eat there because you went there.

icecream cones

So, maybe the day was so educational that I needed two of these to help take the edge off.

complimentary "carb"inental breakfast
